Spring Pre-Loved Clothing Sale
Kelowna second-hand clothing drive and sale at Okanagan College.
This year’s second annual “pre-loved” clothing sale, run by Okanagan College’s Enactus team, was a huge success! After Rising’s recent partnership with Remake, a worldwide non-profit organization that advocates for sustainable fashion and garment maker’s rights, our team felt the need to further spread awareness in the Okanagan community. In the fall, we had our first spontaneous clothing drive and sale that led to great support for the collective goals of Rising and Remake.
Our community shopping pre-loved clothing!
But why stop at one? Our team values sustainability and has a passion for educating others. Two of our new members, Rebekah Dingwall and Isabella Erick took the initiative to plan and organize another pre-loved clothing sale event for the spring closet clean-out season. We received overwhelming support from Okanagan College students, faculty and administration as well as community members who donated more clothes than we could have imagined.
Okanagan College students supporting our cause and saving the environment!
We hoped for clear skies at Okanagan College as promotion began on the Enactus social media and we were not disappointed. Mingling outside in the warm sun all day, we felt so grateful to provide our community with an affordable and sustainable clothing sale. Students and community members came to see our large collection of clothing from casual to outerwear to formal wear. With all of the generous clothing donations, we were able to offer a wide variety of clothes in different styles and sizes. Charging $5 for an individual item or $20 for a full grocery bag filled with items, this year we were able to raise over $1,000 for Rising and Remake, all the while educating our community on the negative impacts of the clothing industry and sharing our passion for pre-loved clothing. Stay tuned for more impactful events to come!
